WHAT ARE HELICAL PIERS???
Helical piers, also known as helical piles or screw piles, are deep foundation systems used to support and stabilize structures by transferring their load to more stable soil or bedrock. They consist of a steel shaft with helix-shaped blades that are screwed into the ground, allowing for minimal soil disturbance during installation. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where expansive clay soils and shifting ground conditions are common, helical piers are an essential tool for long-lasting pool foundations.
These powerful tools aren't just simple steel posts. They're a system of two main parts working together to lock your pool's foundation in place.

The Shaft: This is the backbone of the pier ‐ a central steel pipe that provides the strength to transfer your pool's weight down into the earth, past the unstable surface soils found throughout North Texas.
Helical Plates: Think of these as the threads on a screw. These spiral-shaped plates are welded onto the shaft, allowing the pier to be twisted into the ground while providing the incredible anchoring force needed to support the structure.

These components combine to form a solid support column that moves the weight of your pool off the unreliable surface soil — a critical concern for DFW homeowners — and onto a stable geological layer deep underground.
